Scott is a painter and sculptor living and working in
Walberswick, a village with which he has had close links
for almost half a century. He taught at Camberwell School
of Arts and Crafts in the 1960s and at Suffolk College
from 1971 to 1995. He is a founder member of the Suffolk
Group, a member of Ipswich Art Society and a previous
president of the Southwold Art Circle.
He
has exhibited widely in East Anglia and his work has
been shown at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and
at NEAC from 1992.
He had solo exhibitions at Chappel Galleries, Essex,
in 1999 and at Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich, in 2002.
Publications
include 'Artists at Walberswick - East Anglian Interludes
1880 - 2000' (Art Dictionaries 2002)
Richard's
concerns as a painter are to represent the world around
him when seen in unusual conditions of light. His particular
interest is in the vibrant intensity of dawn and dusk
when the silence and stillness of his chosen subjects
are least disturbed by the threat of human movement. |
