PAUL GRIGGS - JANUARY 5th - 30th 2010 MAIN GALLERY
I never try to represent my subject in a totally realistic manner,
as I believe that a painting is something for the viewer to lose
themselves in.
I will have a certain feeling and mood in my mind when I start painting,
and the viewer will no doubt have a different take on the feelings
it gives them.
That is absolutely the result I want, because if my work allows
you to wander out of the stressful reality of real life for just
a moment each time you looked at it, then I will have truly achieved
what I set out to do.

Have you ever wanted to understand, appreciate and enjoy art more?
Would you like to find out what exactly makes Leonardo's Mona Lisa
or Michelangelo's Last Judgement such great masterpieces? Would
you like to explore the great questions of life through the eyes
of Rembrandt and Van Gogh? Well here is your opportunity! The art
consultancy Sheeran Lock is organising a fascinating programme of
80 illustrated art talks in Framlingham, Suffolk, UK called 'Discover
the Great Painters: From Giotto to Picasso'. This ambitious project
covers 700 years of Western art and will take over two years to
complete. Each talk considers in depth the life and work of one
artist. The first series of 10 talks covers The Early Renaissance
and features wonderful painters such as Fra Angelico, Piero della
Francesca, Botticelli and Van Eyck.
