Came
to serious painting late and untrained after a career
mainly spent explaining art to other people - as art
critic (of The Times for seven years), director of the
ICA, scriptwriter for BBC art-films, British Council
Catalogues, and so on.
Suffolk
seas and scenery main, but not exclusive, subject. Exhibits
regularly with The Suffolk Group, Ipswich Art Society
and Southwold Art Circle.
Recently
(2002) published the first major study of Suffolk painter,
