Amanda
Bell is an artist and teacher working in Halesworth,
Suffolk and in Oxfordshire. Yorkshire born, she studied
at Ipswich Art School between 1987 and 1989 under Ken
Back and Richard Scott. After gaining a Dip A&D,
she specialised in illustration at Cambridge Polytechnic,
gaining an HND in 1992 and a teaching qualification
in 2002.
Amanda explains: "My main aim is to convey a sense
of place. Most of my work is done directly on the spot
as I think this gives it more authority. If I do have
to finish a piece in the studio I’ll make notes
and thumbnail sketches as well as relying on my memory.
I find my sketchbook work informs my painting and I
carry one with me wherever I go.
I work with a variety of subjects - landscapes, figures
(including dancers), portraits and still-life.
My
time is divided between teaching and painting. I have
been a regular tutor with Woodbridge Art Society for
the last four years and I am also teaching at Chediston,
Reydon and Westleton Art Societies. I really enjoy teaching
and hope to encourage people to develop their own unique
style. Please contact me if you would like classes. |
