Laina
is an amateur artist who has been painting and
drawing as long as she can remember! Born in Devon
and brought up in Cornwall, she lived in Kent
for 31 years before moving to Suffolk in July
2009. She gets her inspiration from the countryside,
seaside and nature and tries to convey an impression
of the immense variety of colour and texture of
our surroundings. Her landscapes and seascapes
are mainly acrylic on stretched canvas but her
work includes pencil portraits, pen and ink sketches,
pastels and watercolours. She is currently studying
oil painting techniques tutored by Wil Harvey
(www.wenhastonartgroup.co.uk)
Laina
has exhibited and sold her work at a number of
venues. She is a member of

Art Group and organises the tuition workshops
for Southwold Art Circle.
She
is inspired by the work of Monet and the Impressionists;
the Pre-Raphaelite and symbolist movements; the
Italian Renaissance; Art Nouveau and Art Deco,
and is a particular fan of contemporary artist
Kurt Jackson. |
